Maybe you have read about cupping online or heard about it from a friend. Whatever or whoever inspired you to try out your first cupping session, remember to thank them later. We think you will love it!
On your first ever cupping appointment, you may be wondering what to expect and how you should prepare. We have you covered. Here is what you should know:
What is cupping?
This ancient Chinese therapy works to release tightly wound areas in and around the muscles. The professional will create a suction in the skin by using glass or manual vacuum plastic cups.
During this process, the cups produce pressure which sends new blood flow to specific, targeted areas and muscles.
What should I know before my cupping appointment?
#1 Hydrate—Drink a healthy amount of water both before and after your appointment.
#2 Redness of the skin– The cupping mechanisms will create temporary red circles on your skin in the spots where the professional applied these cupping mechanisms.
#3 Skin sensitivity– After your appointment, you skin will be more sensitive to sunlight and severe cold. Do not expose your skin to the sun or cold temperatures.
#4 Showering– Do not shower or bathe for at least 24 hours once you have had your cupping appointment.
#5 Pregnant and/or diabetic people should avoid this treatment.
Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy your first ever cupping session
